Micro-Recovery:
Practical Resilience for Real Work

Demanding work calls for practical ways to recover. Compass & Core helps organizations teach employees brief, accessible practices for managing everyday stress, releasing physical tension, and returning to their responsibilities with greater focus and composure.

Led by Roxanne Steed, Micro-Recovery training combines breathing, mindful movement, attention, and intentional transitions. Programs are customized for corporate teams, healthcare settings, educational institutions, and public service organizations—giving people tools they can use during the workday while supporting a broader culture of well-being.

Practical skills for your team.

Micro-Recovery teaches brief practices—30 seconds to a few minutes—that people can use during natural pauses in demanding workdays.

Regain composure: use simple breathing and attention practices before a challenging conversation or after a demanding interaction.

Release physical tension: explore accessible movement for areas such as the neck, shoulders, wrists, and back, adapted to the setting.

Transition with intention: build short resets between meetings, tasks, appointments, or shifts—and an intentional end-of-day shutdown.

Participants leave with a small set of tools they have practiced and a personal plan for when to use them. No yoga experience or special clothing is needed.

What a session looks like.

An interactive workshop combines short explanations, guided practice, and discussion grounded in your team’s day-to-day work.

1. Recognize the pressure points. Notice when sustained concentration, physical tension, or difficult interactions leave little room to recover.

2. Try practical tools. Practice a few breathing, movement, and attention techniques. Explore seated or standing options that fit your workplace.

3. Make a plan. Identify where a reset can fit: before a meeting, between appointments, after a challenging interaction, or at a shift change.

For example, a one-hour workshop can introduce the approach, guide participants through several tools, and help each person choose one practice to use that week. Participation is invitational, with options to suit the group.

Built around your organization.

Start with the needs of your people. We tailor the content, pace, language, and delivery to your audience, goals, schedule, and working environment. Sessions can be delivered onsite or virtually.

One-hour presentations: introduce Micro-Recovery with guided practice and simple ways to apply it immediately.

Half- or full-day workshops: allow more time for practice, workplace scenarios, reflection, and team planning.

Recurring sessions: build on skills over time, revisit what is working, and support consistent recovery habits.

Retreats, conferences, and events: incorporate practical recovery into a wider learning or team experience. Onsite support, multi-day programs, and tour or travel accompaniment can also be tailored to your needs.

How we work with you

1. Talk through your priorities: who the program is for, the demands they face, and what you want them to take away.

2. Agree on a format and scope: session length, group size, delivery method, and relevant examples or practices.

3. Bring the program to your team: guided learning, practical tools, and a realistic plan for using them at work. Follow-up sessions can be included in your program.

Micro-Recovery supports your wider employee well-being efforts, alongside organizational work on workload, staffing, and a supportive workplace culture.
